Private buyer of owner-led UK businesses
I work with owners of well-run, owner-led UK businesses who are beginning to think about their next chapter, and I acquire a small number each year with a long-term ownership mindset.
If you’re a business owner beginning to think about your next chapter — whether that’s retirement, stepping back, or simply exploring your options — you’re welcome to have a confidential conversation.
Who this is for
This may be relevant if you are:
- The majority owner of a UK business
- Approaching retirement or planning a gradual step-back
- Running a profitable, established company
- Interested in a discreet, low-pressure discussion
- Looking for continuity for staff, customers, and suppliers
There is no obligation, and no expectation that you are “ready to sell”.
Who I am
My name is Charles Stevenson.
I am a private, UK-based buyer focused on acquiring and stewarding owner-led businesses. I am not a broker, intermediary, or private equity firm.
I take a long-term view of ownership and look to work directly with business owners, keeping conversations straightforward, confidential, and respectful of what you’ve built.
I am selective in what I pursue and prefer quality discussions over volume.
How I approach acquisitions
Business sales are personal as well as commercial.
My approach is intentionally simple:
- Confidential – initial conversations remain private
- Direct – you deal with me, not a junior or a committee
- Measured – no pressure, no artificial urgency
- Long-term – continuity matters
In many cases, owners are not looking for the “highest possible price at all costs”, but for the right outcome. My role is to explore whether such an outcome might exist.
What to expect from an initial conversation
An initial conversation is a short, confidential phone call.
Its purpose is simply to understand your situation, what matters most to you, and whether it makes sense to continue the discussion.
If appropriate, we can then arrange a longer follow-up conversation by Zoom or in person.
We would typically discuss:
- Your business and its history
- Your current role and future intentions
- What matters most to you in a potential transition
- Whether it makes sense to continue the conversation
There is no preparation required, and no obligation to proceed.
Next step
If you would like to explore whether a conversation makes sense, the first step is a short, confidential phone call.
This initial call is informal and typically lasts 10–15 minutes. There is no preparation required, and no obligation to proceed.
